The Monar't festival of urban art and wall painting in Girona opens the bases for the presentation of projects on the theme of diversity and cultural richness in the neighbourhoods, within the framework of its 3rd edition, which will take place from Monday, September 20 to Sunday, September 26, 2021.
The call is open to both individuals and artistic groups and is aimed at urban artists, graffiti artists, muralists, illustrators, painters, and multidisciplinary artists.
The theme revolves around the neighborhoods of Santa Eugenia de Ter and Can Gibert del Pla (Girona), which have a great richness and cultural diversity, where 18,000 residents from 27 different nationalities coexist, and who use 23 languages. Thus, the work must be apolitical, neutral, and non-religious.
The location consists of 11 small, medium, and large-format spaces and, as a selection criterion, the adaptation to the proposed theme and adaptation to the environment and the nearby space will be taken into account.
Before the deadline, May 26, you must submit the completed form, the project in jpg or pdf format, the explanation of the work and its relation with the theme or material necessary to carry out the work.
The festival offers its participants € 250 as compensation, travel with a maximum of € 200 if coming from the European Community and € 400 from outside the C.E. It is also in charge of the materials, accommodation, promotion, and the festival's catalogue book, as well as the festival design t-shirt and bag. Workshop spaces will also be provided for painting in addition to the walls and shutters, a group exhibition during the festival and the following month, and an art market to sell the artwork during the week of the festival.
